Caskets

Any fully biodegradable casket may be used for burial at Birdsong, providing they are sourced from non-rainforest wood. These can be obtained from undertakers and sometimes direct from manufacturers. Woollen shrouds may also be used.

Three types of casket are available to view to help you make your choice:

The Mawdesley Willow Coffin is a beautiful woven wicker casket, and is proving very popular. These strong, environmentally friendly coffins look both unthreatening and dignified.

The Bamboo Eco Coffin is a woven casket with the same advantages as the wicker coffin but at a much lower price.

Both of the above caskets can be obtained in a variety of sizes including childrens. Ashes caskets are also available.

For those looking for a very simple and / or economical funeral, the Compakta Eco-Coffin is the answer. These sturdy, well-built coffins are the best cardboard caskets on the market. They are available in standard size (white) or a larger size (woodgrain effect).

Coffins can be sold for burial elsewhere, or cremation, in which case VAT is payable.
